Hi, I'm Ben

Ben loves love was the original working title. I'm a celebrant & MC based in Auckland (but open to travel).

I got married at 23 in a DIY wedding in a local barn (which wasn't a wedding venue when we started). We had the absolute best day, mishaps and all. I've seen the magic myself and witnessed so many since - each with their own style and quirks.

It's not lost on me that your wedding is the most important event in your life. You should remember it for more than just the papers you sign.

It should be fun and romantic and captivating and give you the indescribable roller coaster of emotions that lets you know that this type of special moment doesn't come around often.

And that's what I deliver.

My wedding style is best described as relaxed and entertaining. The focus is obviously on you but the delivery is for everyone. Laughter & tears - what more could you ask for!

This includes custom ceremony creation, help with your own vows (if you need it), a rehearsal and all the delivery on the day (including the legalities).

Once the legal part is done and the ceremony nerves melt away, the reception is where the real celebration begins.

The MC announces each part of the reception (think dinner announcements, speaker introductions and general entertainment), co-ordinate with the other vendors to keep the night flowing with everything on time (which means more dancing for you) and keeps the vibes high throughout.

There's no such thing as too early to reach out.

We can meet for a coffee, over Zoom or on a phone call if you want to see if I'm the right guy for you.

I'll craft an initial ceremony and then we can collaborate on changes to get to your final vision.

Months before the wedding

1 day out

If you've chosen me to MC, then this is the time when we will work through the reception details to create an unforgettable experience

Order your marriage licence!

This needs to be done at least 3 business days before your ceremony and expires after 3 months. I'll send through a reminder around this time.

3 weeks out

The Rehearsal!

We will do a run through of the ceremony (and reception) to calm the nerves and make sure the big day goes exactly how you want (weather control not included)

~ 8 weeks out

How Does It Work?

The whole process can be as flexible and customisable as you'd like but most follow the below basic outline.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance do I need to book?

The short answer is that it is never too early. It doesn't hurt to reach out & check my availability. On the other end, if you're in a pickle and need a celebrant last minute, feel free to reach out and I'll see if I can help.

What if our plans change or we need to cancel later?

There is a 50% non-refundable deposit for the booking, however, I'll always do my best to work with you and the current situation.

Can I get a friend to be our celebrant and you do the legal bit?

Yes this can work but we'll still need to sit down and discuss how you want it to look to make sure we still tick all the legal boxes.

Can you help to recommend other vendors?

Of course I'm happy to recommend some of the fantastic other vendors I've worked with to help make your day everything you've dreamed.

Can we customise the ceremony?

Of course! It is your day and you deserve for it to run exactly like you've dreamed. Happy to talk through the parts that need to happen so your imagination can run wild with the rest (e.g. length, sequence, content etc).

What about LGBTQ+ weddings?

All love deserves to be celebrated and I'm happy to work with any and all backgrounds.
